3 Ways to Show Your Mom You Care by Laura Reagan As anyone who has been a mom knows, motherhood is a rewarding but also exhausting job. Now that you’re older, you can make Mother’s Day a time to honor your mom and show her how much she is appreciated. Following are a few gift ideas that will make mom’s happiness the main event on this special day:

Think big…or small and thoughtful.
Just heading off to the mall without a plan isn’t a good approach if you want to give mom something really special. Think about what she enjoys—a soak in the tub with a good book? Upgrade her favorite activity to a spa day or an e-reader. Of course, showing you care doesn’t have to break the bank either. If your mom loves cooking, find a few great recipes and spend the day with her cooking a feast for the whole family. If she’s a gardener, purchase some unique seeds for something she’s never grown before.

Keep mom healthy and happy.
Moms tend to like gifts that they wouldn’t give themselves—presents that encourage relaxation, good health and happiness. Massages, cooking classes, candles and lounge wear may be great gifts for a mom that treasures her down time. If your mother is more active, an outdoor supply shop is a great place to buy fitness and recreation gear to complement her lifestyle. A new bicycle helmet, a walking stick or workout clothes (unless you aren’t sure of her size) can all be excellent choices.

Send a personal message of love.
Putting a special note on your gift—whether it’s through engraving or just the perfect handmade card—will make it even more meaningful. The best way to let your mom know you care is using your own words to tell her yourself.
